About the Owner

Three years into his pro surfing life Witt Rowlett suffered a career ending knee injury. Deciding that he liked surfing better than plumbing, Witt went to work at the Gordon and Smith retail shop in Oceanside. After some time there he decided to strike out on his own. He found a struggling bookstore in the heart of Carlsbad with an insane location. Witt helped the bookstore owner find more suitable space and moved into his new shop at 2975 Carlsbad blvd. The shop has been a story of bumps and bruises along the way (including a fire in the 1990’s) but ultimately solid growth over the years. Along the way he has sponsored local talent inclusive of great surfers and skaters like Taylor Knox and Tony Hawk. Witt attributes his success to finding good people to work with, building solid relationships with customers and the community, having a good selection of solid brands, and a great location.
